Heartbeat

I need a heartbeat

I’m not some monster

I just need a soul to love

I met you in the street

Face of pity

Eyes so pretty

Couldn’t be this real

You sang in verse

A tangled torrent

Of forlorn torment

You’ll never know how hard I fell

I need this heartbeat

I’m not this monster

I just need your soul to love

With your body still moving

It seemed to say

Come my way

So I followed you home

Your sheets distorted

In your bed

I lost my head

And woke to find you gone

I just need your heartbeat

To feed my monster

Because it’s your soul I love
