I stand on the precipice
Of this ever darkening pit
Only one voice is heard
Screaming “Leap in it!”
The edges are red brick
Old and worn by time
There is no weather here
Not even air with which to rhyme
The screaming voice pushes
As hands upon my back
My body begins to shiver
My only recourse from attack
The darkness is consuming
All things that walk its path
My heart begins hammering
Seeming to come to life at last
Worry for my future
Remorse for my past
My time finally up
Goodbye to the light at last
